For all out convenience a personal taxi can’t be beat especially with a personal pick up. Mai Linh and Vinasun brand taxis are the more reliable companies in Vietnam and will take you on the meter but for almost the same price Saigon 2 Mui Ne offer a great pick up and drop off service to a range of locations including Vung Tau. Either way the price will be around $100- each way.
Getting to Vung Tau by Ferry:
For a long time ferries were the most popular and functional way to get to Vung Tau. The unique Russian supplied hydrofoils make the journey in a bit over an hour. The opening of a new road route between HCMC and Vung Tau and the moving of the Saigon ferry terminal to District 4 have made the ferries a slightly less popular choice. Nonetheless they still offer a unique view of the Southern Mekong river tributaries. Getting an air conditioned seat is also a great start as further back in the ferry can get pretty warm.
